The trouble with being honest,
is that honest is exactly what is true.
It isn't any more, and it isn't any less.

Being honest is hard when you want to be happy.
When you want others to be happy, to spread happiness,
when you have no happiness left.

Honest is hard when you don't like something,
or when you can't participate when someone wants to share something.

Honesty is telling someone you don't like their gift,
their company, their food, their looks, their thoughts.

Honesty is harsh and bitter and cruel and hard and unrevocable.

Honestly, I just try to be honest.

It's hard to be honest when I want nothing more than to make others happy,
even when I have no happiness left myself. Lying is worse than being honest.
But I'm getting very good at keeping quiet.
Because what good does it do, when it's just going to bring everyone down?

Wow I relate to the concept so well. Honesty is painful but lying hurts too.
